I’ve painted lotus flowers in bloom to symbolise enlightenment. The two figures in the painting are of a scared or spiritual bent, wearing robes of India’s holy orange hues. One enjoys the flower’s fragrance whilst the other holds it in the palm of his hand. The lotus symbolises a flowering of the mind or consciousness, which has grown from the dark, primordial soil, through water (the unconscious) up into the sunlight.
